What are the conditions for soilless culture technology

What are the conditions for soilless culture technology?

1) Instead of choosing a soil medium, each medium has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. If you do not choose hydroponics, the choice of materials depends on what crops you want to grow. For example, if you want to plant seasoning type plants, for example, if you plant a nine-story pagoda, you can choose coconut soil.

2) Whether it is hydroponic or not, it is difficult to get started with hydroponics, and the equipment cost is higher. The advantages are high yield and fast growth. The disadvantage is that hydroponics generally put the nutrient solution in the hydroponic system in a water tank. If the nutrient solution is mismatched, it may directly ruin your efforts.

3) The choice of nutrient solution should be determined based on the crop varieties you plant. The nutrient ratio required by each plant is different in each period. Unlike soil cultivation, the medium for soilless cultivation is generally neutral. There is no nutrition in itself, so additional nutrient solution can be added to support the growth of plants. In addition, soilless culture generally has a large contact surface area between plant roots and media, which responds to nutrients and is prone to over-fertilization.

4) Let me mention temperature again. The roots of plants respond more to temperature when they are seedlings. This is why the old farmers say that they cannot be watered in broad daylight and they will burn the roots. If hydroponics is used, the water temperature will not be too high and the low temperature will come. Generally speaking, it is not a problem. The problem I have experienced is that the temperature of the tap water is too low in winter. After the water was changed, because the original water was at room temperature, the roots of the plants were suddenly cooled by the ice water for a long time. Fortunately, they were well taken care of later. The lesson is that if the water is too ice, let it be kept for a while, and then change the water when it gets close to room temperature.

5) Ph control, this is very important for soilless cultivation! Most novices die in this area. Sometimes you see that the plants are growing well and the fertilizer ratio is right, but slowly the plants begin to turn yellow, wilt, and wither. Because most of the media for soilless culture is neutral, the pH is around 7 and unlike soil, it has no buffering capacity for acid and alkali, and fertilizers are generally acid-alkaline, so the pH fluctuates during fertilization. .
